Fukrey is funny and lighthearted with a good cast and competent scripting. One time watch,Fukrey is a bit like it’s characters. It takes its time to come to grips with its life. When it does, it becomes quite entertaining but the rest of the time it takes the roundabout long route to get to its destination.The story is a composite of the story of four guys Hunny,Choocha, Lali and Zafar. The first three need money to bribe their way into the best college in the city though they don’t have the brains for it and Zafar who needs it for his dad’s illness. The ace up their sleeve is Hunny’s ability to interpret Choocha’s dream into a lottery number, which always wins. They decide to borrow a large amount of money from a gangster called Bholi Punajbun who agrees on the condition that if they lose she will take double the money back. The trouble starts when Choocha makes up a dream, the money is lost and they have to recover it. That makes up the rest of the movie.The problem is that the movie takes too long to build up. A lot of time is wasted in the individual stories and the gang comes together too late to effectively build an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie that could lend itself to jokes.There are a few clever devices and some funny characters that make the movie watchable. However, the movie tries too hard to be funny and is too clever in its jokes and falls flat. It is funny in parts but nowhere near its guru, Delhi Belly.
